It's Elsa Lancaster time again. *sigh*
The last couple weeks, I really haven't been hiding from making posts. I've just been absent-minded and not quite aware of how much time has been passing. Mostly I blame that on Project Normalize Sleep Patterns which has not been going as well as I could hope. But I *will* persevere!

Journals & Blogging & Web Diaries, oh my!
I've spent the last week - during the most recent LJ Crisis 2007 (they seem to be occurring at monthly intervals lately don't they?!) - fussing around at my Other Journals, synchronizing the User Info entries, choosing a nice simple style I can use at each of them with different themes (aka color schemes) to differentiate them. The journals at the sites that made the cut, that is, which was based on (1) LJ-style interface, and (2) some of my LJ flist have staked out territory there. So, here's the final cut:

Djinanna @ LiveJournal

My first journal, this is *home*. Sometimes, though, you gotta leave home. I'm hoping I won't have to, but just in case ... this list.

Djinanna @ InsaneJournal

LJ-style journaling using an up-to-date version of the LJ code. Should the prophecied LJ Diaspora come to pass, this would be where I headed first. Not perfect, but comfy.

Djinanna @ JournalFen

LJ-style journaling using an older version of the LJ coding. Needs updating. Home of Fandom_Wank; when the wank is thick in fandom, JF often gets overwhelmed and inaccessible. If they were ever able to update and upgrade, then this by-fans-for-fandom journal site would be top of my list. As it is, it's more a backup.

Djinanna @ GreatestJournal

LJ-styling with some idiosyncratic variations from the current LJ interface. For no particular reason I'm consciously aware of, I find this site awkward and uncomfortable. I've also heard some discontent and rumblings re some clauses in the TOS. But! This is still the primary fall-back for a large slice of fandom/my flist.

Other Journals
that mostly I forget
even exist but who knows
maybe someday
they'll get some use.

Djinanna @ Blogspot
Djianna @ Blurty LJ style)
Djinanna @ DeadJournal LJ style)
Djinanna @ Diaryland
Djinanna @ Vox
Djinanna @ WordPress
Djinanna @ Xanga

Also, re IM & chat...

On those very rare occasions when I'm actually in (on? at?) chat, I'm most likely Djinanna there as well. Except on Yahoo, where The Other Djinanna (aka DJ Inanna) has Djinanna as a screen name. There, I'm "Gnugrrl". Or "Djindjam", which is my fall-back screen name for chat.

And finally (?)...

Djinanna @ Twitter

I also spent some time fussing around at Twitter. When the recent LJ Crisis (blackout, whatever) hit, that's where I hung out. If you're over there and I'm not following you, it's because I don't know you're there and/or you're using a name I don't recognize. Stop in (here or there) and intro yourself, 'kay?

And I also discovered (via pimp from the diabolical [info]amireal), and spent hours and hours playing with, the insidious Bloglines. Goodbye, Firefox Sage Extension, it was fun while it lasted and I'll never forget you (you were my first), but Bloglines has seduced me away from you.

Catalogs of Doom
I love "window-shopping" by catalog. But some catalogs are more difficult to resist doing actual shopping at. The office supply porn of Levenger's *whimper* comes to mind, for example. Another, which dropped its evil seductive self into my mailbox today, is Design Toscano. *flail-y hands* Gargoyles and dragons and tapestries, OMG!!! Statuary and incidental furniture and the funkiest decorative items a science fiction/fantasy/horror fangirl ever fantasized about sharing her living space with.
Note to self: must win lottery *
Household Update
Yesterday was LSO's birthday. She makes me feel so guilty as she doesn't want a fuss, so no party and no cake. Though there was ice cream and cookies. And steak. And I sang the Happy Birthday song to her and did not tack on any of the various crudely humorous extra verses. LSO's birthday, btw, is my Between Birthday. Exactly six months between the dates, which has allowed me for many years to exercise the (somewhat lame) joke that "my mother is (datum deleted to protect all parties) years older than me, but I'm six months older than her!" No, really. People do laugh when I tell that one. Though maybe it's the delivery? (Or it could be a pity laugh?!)

Anyway, LSO doing very well for her age, but the constantly changing (and somewhat bizarre) weather conditions this year have left *both* of us tired and aching in all our joints. Fie on the dumb medical insurance, etc, that doesn't pay for Chiropracty.

Max is doing well. He's been very fiesty, romping and fighting with his new catnip sack, chasing the laser-pointer light, and even occasionally snuggling between my knees on the ottoman. We've both adjusted to there being just the two of us living here, but there's still moments when the apartment feels echoing and empty even with both of us *and* LSO here.

A new cat (or cats?!) is planned for. We will probably go looking after Vividcon is over. While I still want a dog, there's no money to replace the back yard fence.
Note to self: repeat, must win lottery *
I am once again beset by anemia. Regularly scheduled appointment with Dr Primary Physician on Monday, so we'll discuss options then. I'm definitely looking around now for another (different, new, etc) primary doc; in the several years since I've been seeing this one, we've never developed a truly simpatico relationship. Before the good nurse retired, it was easy to overlook, but nows she's gone and the non-rapport is becoming ever more noticeable. Plus, doc's moved the office to a new, less accessible location that has LSO in twisty fits over (she doesn't like to drive that far and that close to downtown).

And, with this anemia sticking around/recurring at a fairly serious level, I've *really* become aware of how much I don't feel the necessarily level of ... trust? confidence? some such thing, that I should feel for my primary, especially with the list of conditions and medications I'm dealing with. Speaking of which, this situation has really made me aware that doc hasn't really contributed anything helpful (and affordable) to get me moving on the road to recovery. And since I'm taking two anti-depressants (as well as seeing Judith regularly), the level of depression I still live with (and its concurrent lack of motivation) certainly suggests something needs to change. It's taken me several *years* to work my way to that conclusion (which is both a symptom and an effect of the depression); what's my doc's excuse?! /mini-medical rantage

Other Stuff
Oh, there's lots of other stuff and I didn't want to end on a downer (previous paragraph), but it's taken way too long to get this much written and I wanted to post something *hours* ago. Maybe having a bunch of other things still not said (er, written) will inspire me to post again soon.

So, posting now.  And knocking on wood, too.

Cross-posting to LJ, IJ, JF, GJ - if they left me.>

Thanks for this. I remember looking for a similar post you made during the LJ Strikeout just last week (Couldn't remember who had done it and couldn't remember when it was posted.)

So thanks for putting this up again.

I've added it to memories.

*grin*

Glad to be of assistance!

BTW, FYI, I posted this to all four journals (LJ, IJ, JF, GJ) *simultaneously* using Semagic's "Post to Multiple Journals" command. Pretty cool.
